Home / school / park / playground / beach.
Statues needs at least one adult supervisor, (depending on the number of playing statues). This is a game that can be played by groups, from the age of four years old, upwards.
The Nominee turns their back to the field, and on the word "go" the "Statues" attempt to race across and tag the nominee.
Whenever the nominee turns around, the Statues must freeze in position and hold that position for as long as the nominee looks at them. If a Statue is caught moving, they are sent back to the starting line to begin again (or thrown out of that round, whichever way is preferred).
The winner is the first to tag the nominee. The winner will often become the new nominee.
In some versions the nominee can even walk around the Statues, examining them. However, the nominee needs to be careful - whenever their back is turned to the statues, The statues are free to move.
